1. WC : White Color. This number represents the percentage of the white surface (mix of the three RGB colors) in the RGB histogram. This can be used sometimes to fix white balance. Choose to configure the white balance by the color temperature, then set the color temperature value where this percentage reaches its maximum (having a maximum of white surface in the histogram reduces the chances to have a color tint in the picture). Of course this method doesn't work on all pictures.
  2. SC : Single Color. This number represents the percentage of single colors (Red alone, Blue alone, Green alone) in the RGB histogram. This can be used sometimes to fix white balance. Choose to configure the white balance by the color temperature, then set the color temperature value where this percentage reaches its minimum (having a minimum of single colors surface in the histogram reduces the chances to have a color tint in the picture). Of course this method doesn't work on all pictures. Note that this is not exactly the opposite of the previous method because in the RGB histogram you may have a mix of only 2 colors (for instance Red and Blue provide Magenta color in the RGB histogram).
  3. TS : Total surface. This number represents the total surface of the RGB histogram (except the clipped data). A maximum surface means that the RGB values are well distributed between the different levels, but this doesn't mean that the shot is necessarely well exposed.

DPP++ 11.2 available

  1. Button AD : allows to call the DPP batch windows which allow access to AfterDPP functions (see AfterDPP Link for more details about AfterDPP). Use this button then check the Inv. checkbox then clic on AfterDPP button to convert your negatives.
  2. Button CS : allows to call DPP's Convert and Save function.
  3. Button PS : allows to call DPP's Transfer to Photoshop function.

  4. Some bugs corrected.

DPP++ 6.2

You can find more details about this version here.

  1. Small redesign of the interface. To free places for new buttons, the “Show Rule” checkbox has been placed near the “Full Screen” button and becomes a “Rule” button.
  2. Three new composition methods have been added to the trim tool.
    • Golden Spiral
    • Triangles
    • Golden Rectangles

If you are not familiar with these composition methods, you can read the following page: Golden Section and Photography

  1. These checkboxes allow to display the “Diagonal Lines”, the “Rule of Thirds Lines” and the “Golden Lines”
  2. These checkboxes allow to display the “Golden Rectangles”, the Golden Spiral” and the “Golden Triangles”.
  3. When using “Golden Rectangles”, Golden Spiral” or “Golden Triangles”, you have to choose from which corner the drawing starts. These four buttons allow to choose the start corner.

It detects automatically the langage used in DPP and adapts automatically the langage used in DPP++. If DPP is in French, then DPP++ switch to French, else DPP++ stays in English.

IMPORTANT : DPP++ needs the “Edit Image Window” to detects the langage of DPP. So if you are using a French version of DPP, you have to go at least once in the “Edit Image Window” to allow DPP++ switching to French.

RAW Histogram

Adjusting black and points in the RAW histogram rather than in the RGB histogram seems to provide better results. Unfortunately DPP doesn't provide an easy way to control these points, especially the white point where a small movement of the slider provides a strong change in the pic. That's why buttons that allow a precise control of these points have been added.

Statistical Data

Precise statistical Data about the RGB histogram can now be displayed :

Note that the displayed percentage data are related to the channel currently displayed in the RGB histogram. For instance, if you display only the Blue channel, then the displayed percentages concern the pixels which have their blue value at 0 or 255. If you display more than one channel then the displayed percentages are related to the pixels that have their values at 0 or 255 in the 3 channels simultaneously.

Auto exposure

A function that allow to adjust automatically the brightness slider of the RAW tab has been added. This function can operate in 4 different modes:
